Happy 2nd Blog Anniversary!

Celebrating Wanderzest's 2nd blog anniversary by taking a trip down memory lane. Thanks for supporting me on this blogging journey!

It’s hard to believe that two years ago today, I hit “publish” on my very first blog post. I was so proud of that blog post too! I mean check out that beauty below, haha. I was living in an apartment with terrible lighting (I sat on the floor in a cluttered back room to take this photo), I had zero food props, no tripod and I was using a kit lens with my outdated Canon T1i (which I’m actually still using!). I was just a girl with a dream of one day becoming an amazing food blogger.

…Ok, so technically I created my blog in June of 2014, I was a busy college student at the time so I didn’t have a lot of time to do anything with my blog until a year later. Let’s just say I got a bit anxious to get one started, but I didn’t have the time to commit to it. So that’s why I consider May 22 to be my blog’s anniversary!

Back in 2015, I was a brand spankin’ new blogger in the blogging world. I was totally clueless. I had no idea how to photograph and style food. I knew nothing about WordPress and very little about SEO. I didn’t have much experience managing social media sites. The world of food blogging was pretty unfamiliar to me. Since I started, I have watched thousands of tutorials and how-to videos, I’ve had numerous blog name changes, countless logo changes (thanks for putting up with me Jake!), and I’ve used three different WordPress themes. I even made the decision to start including posts about our adventures around the world.

It’s certainly been quite the journey to say the least, but I have learned so much along the way! And while I know I have SO much more to learn, I am proud of where I have been and where I am now. Food (AND travel) blogging is not an easy feat, but it is one that I am excited and thrilled to embrace.

Now…let’s take a trip down memory lane together. These were some of the very first recipes I added to my blog (I won’t be offended if you laugh). I thought it was so fun to see how my photography has changed, and how I literally had no idea about using vertical photos for blog posts, in the past two years!

Now that I have officially dug through the archives from way back when (and I am sure glad my photography has improved!), I just want to thank you for supporting me on this extremely fulfilling journey! My life truly has never been the same since I have started Wanderzest. And I am so excited to explore even more foods and cultures with you!

Now, I’m going to go celebrate my anniversary with some of this coconut ice cream.
