Vanilla Custard

Enjoy custard on desserts, fruit, pastries or on its own. Add more or less milk depending on what use you are going

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup Low Fat Milk
  • 3/4 cup Whipping Cream
  • 1/2 cup Sugar
  • 3 tablespoons Flour
  • 3 Egg Yolks
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 tablespoon Butter

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk and cream in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Stir constantly until it just starts to simmer.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and sugar.
  3. Add the egg yolks to the mixture and use an electric mixer to mix the ingredients until it forms a thick paste.
  4. Slowly pour the milk and cream into the bowl, mixing while pouring until the ingredients are fully incorporated.
  5. Pour the mixture back into the saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until boiling, stirring constantly.
  6. Once the mixture starts boiling, remove from the heat and whisk in vanilla and butter.
  7. Cover the custard with plastic wrap, making sure it sticks to the surface of the custard.
  8. Serve warm or cold, depending on preference and use.
